Company Profile

I am Nick Blatchley, known as the Word Wizard, I supply story-based marketing content that puts the client’s personality and values front and centre stage. With marketing increasingly dominated by generic AI-produced content, I bring human expertise to marketing, born from a lifetime of writing and storytelling.

I always try to speak to each client before attempting to write for them. This not only gives me the ability to excavate down to the true values and motivations of the business, but also to capture the unique voice that makes the content their own.

Nick Blatchley Copywriting was born in 2014 after a redundancy forced me to rethink my career. I’ve been a writer, though, since writing my first “book” at the age of four. This has not only given me the technical skills to write with a natural polish, but also the ability to create compelling stories.

Services include:

• Blog writing

• Website content, working closely with the website developer

• Social media posts

Our Social and Environmental Activities

As a solopreneur copywriter, I work from home with no resources required except for a computer and an internet connection. This means my business shares utilities with my home needs, and my business travel is minimal. When I do need to use my car, it’s a low-emission vehicle (e.g. it counts as exempt for ULEZ).

The biggest environmental impact of my business, Nick Blatchley Copywriting, is energy consumption, both directly and through internet use. Although much of this is unavoidable, I try to minimise the impact by careful use of equipment, such as switching the computer off when not actually in use. I also use a search engine that offsets the energy used by planting trees.

I work for a wide variety of sectors, but I actively look for clients in socially positive sectors. These in the past have ranged from education to green technology, and I’ve written for the NHS on equity, diversity and inclusion topics. With clients whose message doesn’t centre on such issues, I ensure that there’s room for positive messaging, and I have a clear idea of the type of work I’d turn down on moral, social or environmental grounds.

I’m actively involved in business networking groups. Much of this is online, with a national and international reach, but I’m currently helping to set up a local in-person group, offering local businesses the opportunity to connect with one another.

I’ve taken part in environmental business meetings organised through the local Chamber of Commerce.

I’ve volunteered since 2010 at the County Archives. Some of this involves helping to catalogue the collection, but a good deal of my time is spent managing and promoting a community local history website owned the county council.

I’ve taken part in fundraising events for a charity for the homeless run by two networking colleagues.
